Op, if you think you wouldn’t be satisfied with Lawrenceville Prep for your kids, you will definitely not be happy with public school.
So I've heard that Princeton High is actually pretty well resources if you're on AP track. There are also a lot of kids who can take classes at the University during their junior and senior years.
It’s not that common— have to exhaust all offerings in that subject at the high school first. But that is a weird thing to fixate on— PHS doesn’t do that well with Ivy matriculations other than faculty kids getting into Princeton. Amd your kid wouldn’t have that hook. Princeton High school is in a hundred year old building with crumbling ceilings and limited air conditioning. There is currently no plans to replace it. I really think you have a very romanticized view of what it is.
And I think you have a very narrow minded view of the rest of the world beyond the beloved island of Manhattan. This is why America hates us. Everything is so dramatic with such hyperbole. I agree that there probably actually that many kids who take classes at Princeton University so you are correct in toning that down. But the rest of your negativity is overdone, as it is by the rest of the thread. There are pros and cons. But the people in particular who go overboard in fixating on the negatives are not OK. A reasonable person can cite positives and negatives. The world is not black and white. Except for some people here who seem to want a world that is only white (with a few very carefully curated non-whites mixed in so they can sleep at night).
it's an opinion based forum. some people are going to have different view that you do. OK? (you like to use OK often). and it's okay for you to complain about negativity of posters and then you throw in the snarky race card? I assume you will go run to the moderator to get this taken down.
I was mixing a lot in there. The racial comment was not directed at you - you wrote nothing to deserve it. It was directed at some of the other comments here who did deserve it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But the ones that go to great extremes to highlight only the positives or negatives of something with very exaggerated language are awful. So many people today do not understand shades of gray. Use moderation. It is not like this person is debating between Horace Mann and some truly failing school in the middle of nowhere. I will admit that it is somewhat ironic (and admittedly somewhat disingenuous) that I am commenting on people not moderating their opinions enough with a comment that isn't that moderated. But I am writing more about etiquette rather than about the actual content of responses, which should really be pretty straight forward but in this hot take society we live in clearly is not. But I digress.
