OK I'm the PP with the Earth and Ecco recommendations - could you post some suggestions you think meet OP's criteria? I'll give you an honest assessment of the likely comfort level especially if it's a brand I've tried before. I'd rather not die from embarrassment or foot pain. Give us your best shot![/quote]

Nothing wrong with wearing orthopedic sandals if that’s what you want but don’t delude yourself into thinking they’re cute. I agree with the sentiment up thread, if your need for comfort is so great or you’re going to be doing a ton of walking, wear some sneakers, or accept you’re going to be in ugly sandals. [/quote]

This. I wear Birkenstocks for walking in the summer because they are supportive and vaguely hippyish versus geriatric. But realistically, if we are traveling and doing a lot of walking in a city, I wear sneakers. The sweat + grime of bare feet is a big ick for me. Wear comfortable shoes during the day and some cute flat sandals at night when you are walking less. I like the Margaux NY ones posted up thread  and they are flat enough they don’t take much space[/quote]
