It’s also that teachers feel protective of students and each other. I would be scared, but not want to leave my students with a sub who might be insensitive or add to my colleague’s mental load.

When my school had an incident that made the news, I had just gotten up from my desk to tell the office that I was sick and needed to go home. When the incident happened, I knew I had to soldier on. I also came in the next day. Only on the third day did I take off. [/quote]
