If chapin has the “worst” college outcomes in the last 5 years, why does everyone want to go there?
Chapin still gets very strong college outcomes. They are just not as strong as Brearley or Spence. For example Chapin may send more kids to Cornell while Brearley and Spence may send more kids to Harvard and Yale. They are all Ivies but obviously different. Also you need to consider the student body. Although many families love Chapin, because of the ranking and college outcomes, often times Brearley and Spence get their first pick before Chapin. Yes Brearley and Spence get your superstars into top schools, but if your kid is bright though not superstar level, admission into Cornell, Chicago and even Emory is a great outcome. Although at K you may think Cornell is going to be the safety for your bright girl, your view will evolve as they get older. If you feel your child is going to be a superstar academically, send her to Brearley. If you feel your child is very bright and seems to be into STEM, you know the ones that really love the natural history museum or taking things apart, go with Spence. If your child is bright, with a great personality but really needs a warm and supportive environment Chapin is a great school for her. But honestly not everyone gets to choose from the 3 so go with the one your kid gets in and she will be fine. Trust me they are way better than your second or third tier schools, not necessarily because of the admin or teachers, but because of the student body and parents community.
