Relative to the other offerings in places where you can find Cracker Barrel, the food is solid. It has grilled fish and meat options and veggie and fruit options. This might seem basic, but when the other options in town are a fried chicken joint, a Pizza Hut, and a gas station, it's a relief to find a Cracker Barrel. [b]People who trash it are generally comparing it to restaurants in cities[/b], and that isn't a fair comparison. Cracker Barrel needs to appeal to rural people with a hearty diet in addition to travelers who are looking for something more nutritious than Chick fil A. For what it is and the niche it fills, they do a good job. [/quote]

+1 people who live in rural areas do not have a lot of food variety. My grandparents live in a small city in eastern NC, and the restaurants consists of national chains like Cracker Barrel, the local cheap Mexican restaurant, an Italian restaurant owned by El Salvadorians, and a bunch of barbecue spots. When they come and visit I take them to silver diner, they don’t like upscale or unknown food. They go to Cracker Barrel all the time back home. [/quote]
