I am a first generation American, a wife of a retired Navy Officer, a mother of an Air Force Officer and a ROTC Army cadet who will commission in two years and I didn’t go to the parade out of fear. Fear of radical leftists who hate America and anyone who outwardly loves America. I have experienced first hand attacks from leftists while walking to and from a peaceful rally. Only to have the media portray the events completely differently than what I witnessed. We have a media that covers up for their side consistently and blatantly. Most of us who feel the way that I do would have loved to go to the Army parade this weekend but we are aware that we put ourselves and families at risk when doing so. I love America despite the hate from nearly half of the country and I am glad my parents (legally) came here to give me and my siblings a better life. I am so proud that my kids have chosen to serve and protect the rights of American citizens. I wish I would have felt safe enough to go to the parade, I am so damn tired of the hatred from the left.
My husband and I are both veterans. Sounds like you didn't bother. Regardless, only dictatorships and totalitarian regimes have performative shows of their military strength. It's an embarrassment to this country, which we were both happy to serve, and you are happy to let others do for you. At least stay properly informed, which you are obviously not.
I guess you have never been threatened by hordes of complete strangers before while walking to/from a rally? I don’t want to ever experience that again if I can. I love going to air shows and other military events and plan on running the Army 10-miler this year in October as I have done in years past. I just wanted to point out that following the events of the week and my experience with agitators in the past (and texts that we have received from our local units telling us to be careful of the King Rally’s) I did not particularly feel safe attending.
