I am amazed people feel so comfortable passing judgement on an accident they don't have all the data about, and also gleefully judge people who have lost their children and have a child in serious condition. What is the goal? Feeling like a better parent? If anything we can discuss that boys AND men, grown men included, are much more at risk when it comes to road safety: 3/4th of fatal crashes are caused by men. That extends to bike safety, motorcycle safety and pedestrian safety as well. I doubt this is caused by parenting in every instance. There are other factors at play. There is zero value in passing judgement on this specific tragic situation.
I already know I’m a better parent so no, that isn’t the goal. The goal is by publicly calling this what it is - poor parenting - we can prevent it happening to anyone else. Calling it an accident is not accurate and it is not doing anything to prevent this happening again.
