First, the article was terribly written. No acknowledgment that the defense didn't even need to make its case prior to the acquittal. Sounds like the AP bypassed procedure and got her husband involved. I heard they might be friends with the "victims" family. Glad the court saw through it. Also, the person who wrote about Mr. Winter yelling after a field trip. You and your snowflake are the problem. No accountability for your child's actions. Keep making excuses.
He flipped out, yelling, and threatened collecting punishment when the boys bathroom was vandalized/mistreated some years ago. He threatened that if it happened again, he’s strip patrol status from anybody who had used the bathroom prior, regardless of whether they did it. He’s unhinged.
Oh please. A principal's job is to have an orderly school. It doesn't work with rowdy kids saying, "pretty please, don't do that again." Are you the same parent who posted you are mad because kids did something that was inappropriate during a a field trip and he yelled at them? They are out representing the school. Sometimes kids need to be yelled at to get the message what was done was not right. The spoiled kids vandalizing a bathroom aren't the ones who have to clean it. The custodian I am sure appreciated that the principal took vandalizing a bathroom seriously.
I don’t know anything about a post regarding a field trip. Collective punishment is a violation of MCPS policy. It actually caused harm and violated an IEP/504, which I can’t discuss here. He had to apologize after the incident because it was exceptionally inappropriate how much he flew off the handle and berated children who didn’t even have anything to do with the bathroom issue. We know the custodian, and he doesn’t appreciate children being screamed at and threatened. Virtually nobody in that building liked Mr. Winter. He treated staff poorly, micromanaging them constantly. He made everything about him, especially anything around Maryland day. Sole parents absolutely loved him, but others hated him. He did communicate often as a good aspect.
Haha. Do you realize that collective punishment happens all the time in MCPS? Wait until your kid gets to HS and half of the bathrooms are closed. All the kids have to suffer because a few of them misbehave. That's just how things work now sorry.
. Kid is in MS, and bathrooms aren’t closed. It’s specifically against mcps policy to do things like punish children as a group
What policy? Link
It's the same policy that prohibits them from holding all the children back from recess. it's been discussed here before
There is no such policy. A Policy is a written document posted under BOE policies.
Technically, there is a policy against withholding recess, but maybe not for collective punishment, which is still despicable: “ MCPS recognizes the importance of providing students with daily opportunities to engage in unstructured play and exercise. Withholding of recess is not an approved consequence for inappropriate behavior, with the exception of instances where there is a concern for the safety and well-being of the student, or others.” https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/budget/archiveDetail.aspx?id=416#:~:text=MCPS%20recognizes%20the%20importance%20of,of%20the%20student%2C%20or%20others.
