True money kids ( $100 million+) mostly keep to themselves, but there aren't that many of them, even at ivies.
TRUTH. "Typical" full pay kids at ivies, which is only 45% of ivy kids, are the 300-600k HHI kids, so top 5% to borderline 1% but not the 10-100million kids. They are rare even at ivies. We have children and nephews at multiple ivies, and come from "regular" lawyer/doctor top 2-5% wealth. The five uber wealthy families--mega donors at all the fancy balls and popular nonprofits, CEOs and PE folks--at our private sent kids to SMU, William and Mary, Wake, TCU, UVA, another Wake, and a Baylor. Only half of them were ivy contenders, and none got in because they were not in the true top of the class/top stats. DC's bestie at her T10 is from an even more elite prep school (in MA) than our DMV one: the smartest kids and fac brats went to ivies/T10s and some of them are also private equity million dollar kids but the uber wealthy families were more commonly a few notches below the smartest kids, but the difference is they did niche sports but were not top smarts, but could nab a recruit spot at Amherst, Brown, other ivies, but otherwise if non recruits the rich went to WashU, Vanderbilt, UChicago in ED, because they were not in the group to be competitive for ivies, even at a school that sends 20% to ivies
