I'm a D1 women's coach and unfortunately all this is true, and happening for 2025....we were recently told (mid major) that we have to get our roster to 28.  Alot of the P4s jumped the gun b/c they knew it was coming.  It was more blurry at our level, but lots of 25s and current players will be getting unfortunate news after the season ends.  No one hates it more than we do.[/quote]

It's hard to say but I'm thinking it will likely be somewhat smaller since the class of 2024 was the last class eligible for the 'extra' covid year.....that has played a large part in the huge portal the past 4 years because basically every year, 25% of the players were able to take an extra year, and many entered the portal as a result. None of us had any roster limits, and rosters have inched up over the last 4 years since there were so many legitimately talented and proven college players who flooded the portal, and lots of schools were willing to add to rosters in those circumstances.  I would think that the "appeal" of the portal won't be near as high now, and combined with the fact that none of us will have any room to take any of these players even if we wanted to, since we'll all be hard pressed to get to 28 in the first place.  So, I think alot more players will be dying in the portal.[/quote]
