In the A&E doc, one of the things that pissed off the detectives is Scott giving one of the cops a coaster for his cup of water. He thought that was suspicious for a man who just lost his wife to do. It’s ridiculous the stuff they came up with. They just didn’t like Scott. The entire family originally thought she was alive and maybe went into labor and was at a local hospital. Even Sharon Rocha, Lacis mom, criticized the cops and the reporters who implied foul play. The family thought Laci went into labor prematurely.
I think he's guilty, but if for some reason he didn't get a fair trial then he should get one. However, I agree with you that there are dozens of nonsensical tidbits that people cling to as a reason for his guilt.
He had one of the best legal defense teams. He got a fair trial, he just didn’t like the outcome.
He didn’t get a fair trial whatsoever. The judge was on the side of the prosecution and ignored all the defense witnesses who saw Laci arguing with men by a strange van. Many witnesses were adamant they saw Laci walking the dog that morning and she was wearing black pants not beige pants like the pants she was discovered dead in. Scott also told cops the night Laci went missing that she was wearing black pants. The missing person reports from December all said Laci was last seen wearing black maternity pants. When she was found in the Bay in April, she was for some reason wearing beige pants which confused the officers but they made the assumption Scott probably killed her on the evening of the 23rd when Laci was wearing beige pants at her sister Amy’s hair salon. How would Scott remember what was on Martha Stewart that morning if he killed Laci the evening before? Was he just an avid Martha fan? Laci’s sister Amy also Identified those beige pants from December 23rd at Laci’s house early on in the investigation in February before Laci’s body was found. The pants Laci was found in were beige capris not long beige pants like the ones Amy said Laci wore. The capris track more with an April death and it implies Laci was kidnapped and gave birth. It’s hard to believe she wore beige capris on a cold Christmas Eve walk with the dog. All the witnesses who said they saw a pregnant woman walking a golden retriever said she was wearing long black pants.
It’s also hard to believe Scott decided not to go golfing because it was “too cold” and instead decided to go sit in a boat on the cold windy Bay. And he didn’t check out fishing reports that day, nay, just tide reports. Also didn’t use any of his brand new lures. It’s also nice that he came home from a long day fishing decided to do some laundry, have some pizza, take a shower, then call his MIL, on Christmas Eve and be like “Seen Laci?” Without any urgency. There were no witnesses called to testify about the van. Why wouldn’t his defense team call them? Geragos knew he had a loser of a case. The autopsy said the body had been in the water for 3-6 months, not a hot minute freshly killed in April. You seem profoundly ignorant about this case.
He bought the boat on December 8th. He was working and always planned to take the boat out on Christmas Eve. Friends reported that and Laci saw the boat at the warehouse on December 20th so the hair on the pliers probably is from that day. Cops admitted under oath they omitted that witness from their police report. Laci knew about the boat. He didn’t collect any fish so he knew the conditions weren’t great. He just wanted to get the boat in the water and test out the purchase before it’s too late. It would be dumb to purchase a boat in December and not try it out till the weather is warm in May. He wanted to test out his purchase. Scott was frugal and purchased a tiny fishing boat, one that was so janky other fishermen at the marina on that same day made fun of how big Scott was compared to the tiny boat. It seems unlikely he chose this day (he didn’t even know if the boats motor worked well or not) to dump a human body. Scott was also frugal enough to make his own anchors with cement instead of purchasing anchors for 30 dollars. The anchors the prosecution said Scott had weren’t even real anchors. He didn’t have any ropes on the boat. Nothing to tie an anchor to or tie a boat to while he was manipulating a body and trying to cast it overboard. The size of that tiny fishing boat and the size of Scott and Laci and cement anchors just wouldn’t match what they said Scott was able to do. Multiple re-enactments of Lacis supposed fishing burial failed.
Scott was in debt, not frugal. You’re projecting a lot and telling us what Scott wanted or thought. Why not just stick to the facts? He bought the boat and on the same day told Amber his wife was lost and wouldn’t be around for the holidays. What you think he was feeling or thinking or what is likely or unlikely is totally irrelevant. The facts speak for themselves. Scott must be some kind of wizard if he could predict a few weeks into the future what would befall Laci.
He said his wife was gone and this was her first Christmas without her but many people say things like that by confidence and then they end up becoming true. In reality, he was planning to spend the entire Christmas holiday with Laci and her family. He was planning to pick up a gift bag for Lacis stepdad, attend Lacis mothers dinner, host brunch for Lacis family on Christmas Day, and he went to get a haircut at Lacis sisters salon on December 23rd. What he said on the 8th was a lie he said to continue to access Amber. Initially, Ambers good girlfriend Shawn is the one who discovered through mutual friends that Scott was married. She called Scott in early December and told him if he didn’t tell Amber by Monday, she would. That’s the only reason he admitted he was married to Amber. To continue accessing her and not disappoint her, he said his wife is gone. This is what cheaters say. It has nothing to do with murder.
