We've had 15 pages of republicans berating democrats for believing things about covid that have been proven to be wrong in hindsight. Now I'd like a republican to address why they keep saying Biden has open borders even though he expelled a record number of migrants in 2022 while he had title 42 available. And continues high numbers of returns and removals without title 42. I get that many of you would like more, but that's not open borders. Are you post-truth on that?
Both can be true. Biden’s policies can be accurately described as open border while he also simultaneously expels record number of migrants (because record numbers are coming due to those policies). I’m not a Republican, though.
Love the irony! But no it can't. You've really distilled post-truth to it's core with this nonsense disguised as paradox. Kudos on contributing to the downfall of society.
Sometimes I wish I could be as simple-minded as you and the other PPs who believe that the Democrats are always on the side of truth and science and right. It would certainly be easier to go through life believing anything my side said was unquestionably always true and right, just because they said it. Never having to entertain a critical thought, never questioning leaders, just always trusting: it is appealing in a way. I’m a little jealous of the simplicity that must bring to your life. But it was alright, everything was alright, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.
Huh? Please read my last post again and explain where I said dems are always on the side of truth. Fwiw, I agree that closing schools in Fall 2020 was not supported by the science we had at the time, not just in hindsight. But the teachers' union resisted in our county. Look through old threads on dcum, and you'll see the arguments. However, I'm asking about the claim that Biden is allowing open borders, even though he has record numbers of returns and removals, and used title 42 to the max when it was available. Maybe that's not enough for you, but it's not open borders.
It's unfortunate that schools were closed but the claim that closing schools was unsupported by science isn't entirely correct. COVID contact tracing data showed that schools were in fact one of the top places for transmission.
I specifically mean elementary schools. Everything we did to fight covid was a tradeoff under uncertainty. We knew young children were at risk under isolation, and they were less likely to spread covid to adults. I really don't want to relitigate that, but it wasn't the tradeoff I supported. Many liberal parents felt the same. But what about the open borders claim. Will a republican PP acknowledge that Biden is not allowing open borders?
