Union parent here. I’d be thrilled if Union teamed up with Brave (especially for my DD’s age group). There are too many ECNL teams diluting the talent pool in northern Virginia. You can only develop so much… Would be nice to have a roster where every player on the bench can get in and make a difference in the game. Also noticed that neither Union nor Brave have posted ID sessions yet even though we’re just 10 days away from March 1.
Which age group does your DD play for? There really isn’t a reason to specify this though. There isn’t a single ECNL club in the DMV where all of the starters on a team are ‘making a difference’ in the games. You can’t say that and say that the talent pool is diluted in NoVA. But here you are talking about having a stronger bench? This post makes it sound like you’re either afraid of Brave girls coming in to take starting positions or you want the current bench players gone. Which is it? No matter what you or anyone else thinks or feels, girls from Brave, FCV, and other places are moving to Union this year and a large number of them will be starters. There will also be second string players as well. When you have the track record that McLean has, these things just happen. Talent knows where to flock. As stated earlier, if your child isn’t viewed by the club as a top player(top player parents know), then you need to have a plan B just in case. If you sign that offer letter too early and a bunch of talent comes in later, your child could quickly go from starter to coming off the bench. Sign that offer too late and the coaching staff may think you’ve been out shopping your kid around. The last 10 minutes of the first half + the first 10 minutes of the second half time could be yours depending on what age group is in. Stop trying to grandfather in starters and let true competition take place.
Union needs the talent! Good thing it’s going there. #struggling
