Vance did not say, however, whether the current situation in Texas would merit an exception. “I want to protect as many unborn babies as possible. I also think we have to win the trust back of the American people. And one of the ways to do that is to be the truly pro-family party. I think we are. We have got to carry that message forward and actually enact some public policy to that effect.” In other news, JD Vance is a POS. https://www.yahoo.com/news/j-d-vance-said-republicans-171116995.html
They’ve had 50+ years to do anything pro-family and have hardly ever managed it.
How about they start by not beginning to destroy their maternal medical health care systems with these horrible laws.
They’ll wait until otherwise healthy wealthy White women with planned pregnancies start having negative outcomes. Otherwise I don’t think the wealthy White Republicans who want this mess will care.
pretty sure this is why this woman was picked as the test case - the pretty little blond suburban mom. I still am trying to figure out their justification for torturing her. No matter what happens here, this baby isn't going to survive.
She wasn't picked as a test case. This is real life.
I get that it is happening in real time, but I doubt this case would get the attention it is getting if she were black or brown. I'm sure her lawyers took this into consideration before bringing the case and making it national. I know it is a bit cynical and twisted, but we KNOW I'm not wrong here.
I recognize that some plaintiffs are picked over others (not a coincidence that it was LOVING vs. Virginia, for example) but I really do think this is the first case like this where the patient has had to go to court and then been objected to/overruled by the Texas Supreme Court. I could be wrong but this stuff is public record and there’s at least one reporter in Texas who’s on this beat all the time.
