Mine are caused by idiopathic epilepsy.  No one knows why I have it but it is treatable. We suspect mine was caused by a brain unjustly but the seizures didn’t appear until several years after so that is speculation.  I’ve had friends have seizures for a time after a car accident or similar event.  So if he hit his head recently, it could be a result of that.  For some people it becomes a permanent thing and for others the seizures go away with time.   There are side effects to treatment so if it is seizures, they may be waiting to medicate to see if the seizures go away on their own.  When I have mine, I am completely frozen for the period of the seizure but coherent before and after.  I was able to hide mine for a long time but mine progressed to bigger seizures.[/quote]
