I don’t think OPs post is genuine based on what I’ve seen from my own child and his friend’s experiences with college admissions from FCPS. OP, what are your child’s ECs? Did he take the SAT or ACT? What major did he apply to? Excellent essays? Any discipline issues?
My son was more qualified than OP kid and was waitlisted at UVa and Tech. The admissions people don't care about quality, they care about quotas.
They probably had thousands of applicants with exactly those stats. Why should they take your kid when there are others who offer the same things - or better?
THIS! UVA falls ranks well below other schools on things like diversity. Who are all these URMs you think are getting in? Not visiting -- I mean actually getting in. The demographic stats just don't match your arguments on this front. Google is your friend (or not). No school wants 10,000 of the exact same student. And certainly not the same exact from Northern Virginia. Without race as a factor, stats were NEVER the only reason for selection to any university in the US. Entering classes are curated, not culled from the top of the list. Always have been. There are only so many slots, OP's kid missed out on one. Want the schools that who want you and move on.
