When did Pitt evolve from a loser, shady safety to a sought after acceptance. Money and perception and a decade of rejections from other top colleges. Tsk, Tsk.
It has solid programs, a reasonable price and happy students. It has rolling admissions and is not bothered that a lot of strong students use it as a safety. As is often discussed on this board, a true safety has to be a school that there is a strong likelihood that your student will get into and that your student will be happy to attend. The bonus with Pitt is that you can know you have a good acceptance early and it relieves a lot of panic that a strong student might not get in anywhere because the schools that are a "match" have acceptance rates below 20%. Add to that its honors college and DC Tag, which provides an incentive for DC kids to go to out of state schools, it is better priced than many and provides merit aid. It ticks a lot of boxes as they say
Pitt has many fine programs. The health sciences are top notch
+1 I don’t know about their other majors, but any pre-health or health related science major at Pitt is no joke.
