Even after living in DC for close to 30 years, it still amazes me that there is no sense of obligation from local government to create a school system that is designed to educate ALL of DC's children.  DC middle and upper middle class taxpayers pay higher income taxes than surrounding jurisdictions but are somehow accused of being "entitled"  when they express an expectation that the school system into which they pay those taxes actually care about educating their kids.
