She seems to be saying Blacks were successful after the Civil War. Many apparently succeeded despite not receiving handouts. At some point, this success attracted the wrong sort of attention, IMHO. [/quote]

Are you insane? It's outrageous because when ever black people have amassed wealth in any numbers, they've been killed or destroyed.  I wonder how well black people would have done if reconstruction would have continued.  Black people have always been a resilient people, especially if you consider that after slavery, black people had nothing.  Literally nothing.  Then when we tried to live the American dream, white people destroyed it.  What is the good of being able to amass wealth, if white people will just take it.

Today's equivalent is black people's inability to get VC funding.  They have great ideas, but can't amass wealth in the same way.  Don't mention the 3 black billions and point to progress.  I've literally had dinner with 3 white billionaires in the last month.  That just shows how many there are.[/quote]
