We're all privileged to live in this time and place. Science, medicine, and public health infrastructure have given us longer, better lives. Technology and industry have given us easier lives with more leisure compared to say, 150 years ago.
We do have more leisure than 150 years ago, but I recently read a book indicating we have significantly less leisure than say 2000 years ago. I’ve also read some things that posit overall happiness and stability could be decreasing when you take the long view of human history. Technology and industry brought with them a lot of substantial downsides as well. It is interesting to think about…I mean humanity is evolving for the better…until it is devolving. I recommend the book “Sapiens.” Fascinating read
