Reading through, now I’m curious about why people here didn’t seem to stay at the church more than a few years and about turnover in leadership. She is such a big name, I would have thought there would have been a bigger draw, but it never seems to have gotten big.
I’m speaking only for myself here, obviously. At least from my perspective, we never really fully connected with the people there. They were nice and sincere, but never really got to know anyone. We went to life groups for a while and that wasn’t bad. But, it faded out. We did lots of community stuff that really was good and fulfilling. The church wasn’t terribly big in 2008. But, it was growing pretty fast. JH wasn’t a super big deal. She did some speaking engagements but was still pre-celebrity. It felt like there were 6-7 core families and then there was everyone else. We met some folks but it never felt like home. Maybe that’s my fault. I don’t always put myself out there. Overall it was good, but it got tiresome and felt like it was the same stuff over and over. Maybe others felt the same. I have no idea how big the congregation is now.
