My SO is a partner at his firm and drives a Mazda3. A friend of mine insisted on driving his Ford Focus into the ground long after he made partner. They both come from middle class families. Frugality, especially when you see that it actually works, is a hard habit to break.
Mazda3 is a great car. I drove one forever and still miss it. Didn't do it for frugality though. I completely forgot that there is such thing as changing your car every once in awhile. The car ran well and since it had no problems, I completely forgot about wanting a new car. Hard to explain. It took me from A to B, i didn't have to worry about it being scratched or the car even being where I left it, the insurance was dirty cheap, I lent it to my friend with no worries. Amazing how a good old car can make you feel so good. I bought a brand new car and felt like I had to be careful where I parked and how and told the kids to keep it clean. Exhausting. Can't wait for this car to become old.
