There is an implicit assumption in Harvard's decision that is very troublesome: A Racist student does not belong at Harvard. Let's say every school adopted this posture. Where is such a student supposed to get educated and become more enlightened? How about a woman who thinks all men are pigs. Does she not have a right to an education anymore because schools are supposed to reject her? Can a hospital refuse to treat a racist? Can cops refuse to protect them? Can firefighters refuse to put out fires in a racist house? All those who support Harvard's decision need to explain why other schools shouldn't follow Harvard's example and if every school does what happens to a students right to an education of they hold aboherrent views. So nowadays there is a movement to allow convicted criminals to attend college, but s racist cannot? That's beyond stupid.
Kind of a strawman. Not every school has adopted this policy for every kid. THIS school made THIS decision for THIS kid based on THESE SPECIFIC actions.
+1 Some school will likely accept this kid. He is not entitled to be educated at Harvard, after having his violent racist words published. Plenty of other far more deserving kids were rejected from Harvard too.
