For those of little dignity, who still try to rationalize paying Cabel to be involved in their son’s lives....we have a great new Cabel being Cabel story for you to try to defend. He was busted for cheating in 5th grade ‘B’ HoCo playoffs over the weekend and his team was disqualified. He loaded up with 6th graders (and possibly 7th) I hope the $30/drink Scotch at Millie’s helps ease your shame. Then again, if you are a parent(or even a 5th grader) willing to participate in this pathetic attempt to cheat at 5th grade ‘B’.....well, shame requires a conscience, so never mind. By the way, your kid is learning how to be just like you, even if he was one of the actual 5th graders on the team. I’ve had 2 sons play up for teams that were short players. I’d pull my kid from any club that ever asked one to play down. But, never had to worry about that. Wouldn’t allow any of my kids to play for a Cabel team.
Since when does anyone check rosters in the HOCO league? I am sure the logic was "they plan to re-class at a later date" No age restrictions grade only with no verification system. If you ain't cheat'n you ain't try'n. Heck you could bring in a college player and it would be within the rules as long as the .layer did not play on a HS JV or Varsity team. The most surprising part of this story is that a team was actually caught and disqualified. This happens with many teams at many age groups.
What Madlax should have done is put them in the 2025 B division - not playing against legit 5th grade teams and taking up a playoff spot. This team was awful last spring/fall as a mixed 5th/6th grade team but has improved this spring. From what i understand is this team was entered into the 2026 A division, made 2nd seed in playoffs, beat the opposing team who made a protest on the roster immediately following, some kids shared they were in fact 6th graders (in fact, I know a kid on that team who is old enough to be a 7th grader.) But Madlax, coaches and parents knew they were playing down... hopefully Mdlax will make some adjustments to their summer tourneys - I can just hear opposing teams calling them out as cheaters and they aren't wrong.
Do you think this will have any affect on their registrations? It's been over 5 years since the ungrateful quitter and even the negative press associated with it and he has 2 teams at all ages down to 2027 and he still has national franchisees. How in the world do people give him their money? Players and families kicked to the curb for outside teams (Club Blue/DC Dogs); terrible personal treatment (ungrateful quitter); and now blatant cheating and forfeits. Will HoCo do anything and why would you play this team in any tournaments? HoCo and tournaments don't need the aggravation as there are plenty of clubs to take Madlax's place.
