Mmmm, when I worked for a non profit we received government funded grants to work with their children. Roughly, 40,000 a child per year. The neighborhood was filled with similar not for profits providing an array of services and funded by public and private Grants. [/quote]

Alternative education. Agree we weren't helping that much. Often thought they'd be better off if simply given the money directly. but these types of not for profits employ lots of people and are a business unto themselves. Tons of money slushes through.[/quote]

I agree with some form of alternative ed, but more progressive measures.  Sadly, progressive ed is oftentimes private.  Public ed is stagnant and outdated. Even if a wealthy county throws in more resources, these are band aid approaches.
