My big issue isn't that everyone knows every one else's business (I have that now) or schools (QO is fine-- we're moving from FFX). My question is about raising kids there.

I love decorating for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and want a neighborhood that also decorates. I want my kids to have a Stars Hollow feel.

On the other hand, some have mentioned the sense of entitlement (which, let's be honest, in the DMV, it's going to happen regardless). My question is do your kids leave the house and invite friends over? Do you have to schedule play dates, or is it more of a free range thing? Do you feel safe letting your kid walk to Whole Foods (I cringe as I am typing this) by themselves? Are the walks around the lakes safe? Is there bullying issues in the schools?

Also-- do you like the little league there? Is there a dance school or music school nearby? Do you feel safe letting your kids walk home from school by themselves?

I ask because I am seriously looking into moving there and hope that this doesn't open up to a lot of /s posts.[/quote]
