http://www.ussoccerda.com/sam/standings/ss/schedule.php?containerID=OTcyNzcwMA==&v=3
Wow, the PA and NJ teams are doing really well in that age group! Are you saying Arl will have a 16/17 agre group next year based on showing up on that page?
I personally don't know, but I'm rooting for it. I do know if our conference gets a U16, they will get a U16. And if it doesn't, they will get a U17. However, there is apparently talk of them going full DA.
It would be nice to get the 16s just to make parents happy. Not sure if the talent pool supports the extra players, but parents will be happier based on previous years' feedback.
This isn’t what Arlington parents need to learn, US Soccer is not going to grant things to make parents happy. For all we know ASC did not even apply for full academy status purposely so that they could build the program properly. One of three things will happen next year; 1. US Soccer will break up the U16/17 age group. This will result in no Arlington 03 DA age group, likely ever. 2. US Soccer will not break up the U16/17 age group. This will open up the door for some 03’s to play DA next year. 3. US Soccer will Pilot a U16 only age group also ensuring that Arlington will not get a 03 age group.
Or Arlington will not get U16 at all next year. US soccer is going to need to pull the trigger on this pretty soon to allow teams time to have ID sessions.
US Soccer wants girls DA to grow, there is zero reason not to award Arlington the U16 age group. Stop with the hand wringing already.
For sure. I think some just have a vested interest in suggesting they won't expand to a full DA. It's a good way to try and dangle a carrot in another direction by suggesting Arlington will remain limited.
