I really disagree with this assertion.  Dogs were allowed to roam free at all times.  Dogs were allowed to poop everywhere and no one would ever pick it up.  I can't remember all the times I used to step in dog poop and now it is very rare.  My brother got bitten by a loose dog.  People don't do that anymore.  Also, the majority of dog owners never trained their dogs so they would always jump on you.

So, no the good old days were not good.  Are there still problems with dog owners?  Yes, and as a dog owner I try my best to not do any of the things that people complain about.  My dog is trained and she is under my control at all times.  If I see someone I do not assume they want to pet my dog and I will cross the street or step aside so they can walk by.  If they want to pet and they ask I let them.  I also pick up my dog poop and throw it away in public trash cans or my own, never ever a neighbors.[/quote]
