Being a bigot doesn't automatically make the people you don't like go away. It just makes you an intolerant prick.
How does stating the biological fact that there are only two genders, male and female make one a bigot? I'm sorry your Gender Studies professor's claim that there are really 36 genders does not make it true.
Sex is biology, gender is a social construct. You are conflating the two.
Than why do people even have to concern themselves with gender. If as you say, gender only has to do with how masculine or feminine a person feels, why is it necessary to give that a special label? One that some people would actually like to put on documents. There have always been non-girly women and effeminate men, up until now I don't think any of them would have minded calling themselves anything other than men/women who weren't into the same things most people of their sex were. Based on your definition of gender, I think it's a pretty meaningless concept and should just be put out to pasture.
