No offense to the Hammers organization (I think they deliver a perfectly fine product) but Hammers (now Team Virginia Lacrosse) are not going to get any kid recruited to a top college. Hammers is a good option for the high school player who wants to play better in highschool but is not very interested in playing in college. VLC has helped with recruiting in the past. Whether they can continue to do so remains to be seen
Truth is that the club does not get a player recruited the player gets a player recruited. All the past VLC players probably would have gone D1 if they played for Hammers. If a player can make a top showcase team UA/Nike attend top events: NLF, NXT fall event, and ball out during a prospect camp, they will get recruited. A player will get an extra bump if they play for a top private school and attend NHSLS and maybe get a big time HS game that a college coach will watch. It has just been the case that these players did not show up at Hammers/Team VA tryouts in the past. The VLC kids need to play well and they will get recruited
I am hoping the 2027 VLC kids do well. But, I am curious what VLC will do about building a 2028 team. Especially with the 2028 kids going off to several over programs.
