I see how the Republicans keep winning the favor of those in Southern VA: they keep the prices higher down there than up here in NOVA to keep the citizens angry and buying the lies on the inflation expense. I just spent the weekend in Lexington, VA and everything was so much higher than up here. Gas was $3.25 for the lowest grade. A loaf of Dave's Killer bread was $8.99 at the store when it's in the $5-6 range up here. Chips on sale 2/$10. Bag of apples for $4.99. I get the same bag of apples weekly up here for $2.99. Eggs down there were high af at $3.19. I paid $2.10 on Sunday for eggs when I got back. I also gassed up this morning on the way to work and it was only $2.96. I spent Thanksgiving in Chesapeake, VA and the prices down there were similar as well. I noticed most grocery items were higher down there than here. I think gas was also $3.56 but I can't be sure because I didn't fill up, I was the passenger and not paying the best attention.
It is rather ironic that rural people complain about the high prices in cities, when generally the opposite is true (except housing)
Just checking on your first two claims and they don't check out. It pays to do some comparison shopping online before you buy gas or groceries. Aldi and Lidl are usually going to have the cheapest prices on staples like eggs and dairy. Consult GasBuddy before you fill up on gas since prices can vary widely in a single county or town.
Gas was $3.25 for the lowest grade
. (Gas Buddy begs to differ. It has it below $2.99 all over Lexington: https://www.gasbuddy.com/home?search=Lexington+va&fuel=1&method=all&maxAge=0)
A loaf of Dave's Killer bread was $8.99 at the store when it's in the $5-6 range up here
. (The regular--not thin-sliced--is $6.99 at Kroger's in Lexington and the same loaf is $6.79 at Wegmans in Fairfax so only 20 cents more in Lexington.)
