Does each team get a certain number of guaranteed District awards? How does a team go 0-6 in their district (outscored by a ratio of over 5 to 1) walk away with a huge number (2/3 of their starters) of District award recipients?
They may get some honorable mention kids, maybe a 2nd team or 2 for their best players (that would probably start on most any team in the district and may be playing at the next level) but they probably won't get anyone on 1st team with an 0-6 record.
New to Varsity. Does the First Team usually have 1 goalie, 3 mids, 4 def, and 4 att? Or can there be, for example, 5 first team mids? How does HM work? Is HM all the kids that received at least one vote? Is the number of HM limited.
Usually by position, but some coaches will put a middie up for A or D to avoid a logjam. Sometimes there are also a couple "open" slots added for those where they may be a logjam (maybe 5 middies or 2 goalies really deserve it, etc...). NCAA does this too for their teams sometimes, so it is not out of question. HM is usually given out like candy by coaches to award key starters even if they aren't top level in the district and not much should be read into it. Coaches often scratch each others back on these to get their own kids recognized.
