This. 100%. They got hit first that is all. Now they are done. Other states got hot later and will soon be done too. What was disastrous for New York is the number of deaths. They have more deaths than California Florida and Arizona combined!  They are now at herd immunity and honestly I think many New Yorkers are traveling and socializing too. Not sure about the herd immunity. I haven't heard anything definitive (though I hope that you are correct!!).
BUT as a NY'er and a lifelong Democrat, I am honestly stunned at Cuomo's (and DeBlasio's) mismanagement of the virus situation. Even more shocking is the fact that he's publishing a book glorifying his COVID response. I know this thread isn't for political commentary, but I did want to agree with your sentiments
