I've posted that I think there may be mental illness or alcoholism at the heart of this, but it's not that difficult to understand why people are upset by the man's actions.  The fact that he's a high-level government official make it more alarming and that's the reason it was worth a story in the WaPo.  Their motive is their purpose: news.[/quote]

Maybe white people who commit crimes are just sociopaths or just people who have committed crimes... why do we need to have an excuse for their behavior like mental illness. If he has a mental illness, it is a severe case of "assholia". Not that hard to understand.  He thinks he owns the neighborhood, and someone (probably, well overdue) called him on it.  It is likely about time. Have you ever lived near someone like this?  Not so fun.  They tend to be obsessed - and stalking and harassment is the least of their issues. If that nanny started a go fund me site to sue him, I would be the first to fund it - rather generously, at that.  This guy needs to back off, and he needs perspective. Badly. [/quote]
