Looking at; http://www.uchicago.edu/about/history/ it does seem that the University has always had progessive admissions policies, and had the first jewish university president. It admitted more woman and AAs than other universities at the time, and made an effort to (to quote the article "found their educational paths blocked by policies or quotas at many other institutions.". Maybe it is a bit like Berkeley for East Asians today. Or CalTech?[/quote]
