my child took precalculus in one year guess he missed out anyone for the umpteenth time care to share what happened at the meeting?
"Missed out" on what? Taking pre-calc in 2 years? If you want early graduation then evidently you do want that kind of compressed and accelerated math. Yet above, there was also complaining about not being able to graduate early if you don't accelerate on math. So make up your mind. And meanwhile, either is an option. Not to mention the fact that your other choices were to not even have pre-calc at the grade level that BASIS offers it, and having far fewer math options available to you if you were at any other charter or DCPS school. As for filling you in on what happened, at this point I it's pretty evident that of the few BASIS parents who visit DCUM, most aren't all that interested in talking about details like meetings with admin since it seems you'll only go back to questioning and disputing what they say and giving them a hard time. You keep making it clear you don't want to actually listen to what other parents say - so why should anyone bother. I suggest you actually talk to the school instead of constantly asking questions that you then reject the answers to. For the umpteenth time, it should be clear at this point that you aren't going to get whatever it is that you want here on DCUM (unless what you want is to rant at random strangers on DCUM). For the umpteenth time, if you want to not be so far out of the loop, yet couldn't go to the morning coffee hour, you still have the option of evening booster meetings (where there are school admins present for Q&A time) or the saturday coffee hour coming up or emailing school admins or making an appointment and meeting with them one on one, there are several options. For the amount of time and energy you've already spent on these DCUM posts over the last month plus you could have easily have done any of those and had your questions and concerns addressed by the school admins ten times over.
ok guys, again, you have no idea how many people are asking about the meeting as for the ranting lady, you will be happy to know that her daughter has been confronted by almost ten girls in her grade saying "my mom hates your mom" without any explanation. Class act, parents. She has been reassured by the moderator that she did NOT shut down the list serve and I have told her to stay far away from here and I think she has. But her daughter is clearly bearing the brunt not only of the coffee questions and the FB emails but the fact that you erroneously think she is on DCUM. Non Basis parents, I have to agree given the past few awful threads that you dodged a bullet But your children would have gotten a good education
Yes, an excellent STEM education. But the only real bullet to dodge is getting entangled with this barrage of online nonsense. I think parents are right to be annoyed with what's been a steady stream of troublemaking through uninformed assumptions, ranting and accusations. No "class act" at all demonstrated by them. And I'd say it's ultimately only been the same tiny handful of posters making all this trouble, based on their writing style. This has been going on for far too long. If you have questions or concerns, talk to the school already. The post above mentions there are opportunities on Saturday, evenings, or you could just email or call and make an appointment whenever you like. Lots of options for getting answers, which are far better than barking into the wind on DCUM. And if you truly want to help, then start working WITH people instead of against them (and that means not going off to form your own private group to bitch and stew in your own echo chamber behind everyone else's back). What have the rants and accusations gotten anyone? Nothing, other than getting a lot of other parents (and their kids) annoyed with those associated with all of this. People are starting to wonder if these posters are deliberately trying to sabotage the school by constantly sowing a whole lot of misplaced/misinformed doubt in the minds of prospective parents to chase them away, not to mention a lovely portrayal of the parents all being a bunch of angry crackpots and lunatics. If that's been your intent, then you've won. Great going. Thanks a hell of a lot. But if that wasn't your intent, then stop already. Make your last post truly be your last post on the subject.
