ITA.  Chivalry, in a way, was treating women kinder because we have to put up with more- we have tougher lives, and have more to deal with in life.  And I think many men find it hard to identify with women AT ALL, in even the smallest way.  The rules of chivalry are kind of like forced identification.

My little brother for example, has three very strong older sisters.  And though he is a big tough guy himself, and he completely sees women as equals, he treats his GF like an actual QUEEN.  Not because he thinks of "little women" and is trying to groom some woman for life as a put-upon housewife, but because we have taught him exactly how much the kindness of opening doors, carrying luggage, and genuinely listening means.  Chivalry is something that comes naturally once you learn to stop hating women. [/quote]
