The black community was really cruel and joked about Michael “bleaching his skin” . My dad just said MJ was a self hating weirdo but I feel bad now learning from his autopsy that he actually did have vitiligo. It didn’t seem like Oprah even believed him when he said it to her. He was destined to lose melanin due to genetics. He was not lying about that. As for the nose jobs, he first received one after breaking his nose during a dance rehearsal in 1979. Then in 1984, his hair and scalp caught on fire filming the Pepsi commercial. This happened while vitiligo was intensifying and he was touring all around the world and stressed It makes sense why he was in a battle with his body and face for so long
Not buying it. Michael willingly turned himself into a freak through plastic surgery (on top of skin bleaching). Latoya followed Micheal into an addiction to body modification; Janet did not. Compare photos of Latoya with Janet.
Both things about Michael can be true - he had body issues and also vitiligo. There still isn’t a full cure for vitiligo. For darker skinned people, it can be really traumatizing. Bleaching is or used to be a suggested treatment so the person would not have the different color patches. Of course, not as simple for someone in the public eye. I cringe hard when I hear the skin color jokes. I used to laugh but not after I understoood what he had.
My dad had vitiligo. He was pretty traumatized by it, hiding behind long clothes, being embarrassed by his “raccoon eyes”, and avoiding the sun and the outdoors as much as possible. He would ask me to buy makeup for him in the 80s, and was mortified that he needed it. Vitiligo is worse the darker your original skin is. Bleaching your skin was the treatment then, to even out skin color differences. But that’s not why Michael Jackson was disgusting. It’s because he was a pedophile.
