My 6-year-old is in learn-to-skate, and she has the Corinne Tan American Girl doll and the American Girl book that goes with it, which is all about Alysa and Eileen. She loves Alysa. And if you were actually paying attention to her skate, you couldn't miss it.

OK? You’ve decided figure skating is a little-girl, ice-princess, fairy-queen sport. Please link to your alarmist posts about basketball, football, hockey, wrestling, etc. This is not new. Alysa said a bad word, she didn’t club Nancy Kerrigan in the knee. Get over yourself. Athletes can get pretty riled up and raw and inappropriate. I would have been equally annoyed if that had been featured when the US women beat Canada in hockey last night.  It has nothing to do with sparkly dresses.  There are lots of families with young kids watching the Olympics. [/quote]
