That you’re citing an article from AARP, an organization that literally represents retirees, doesn’t say much. The fact that MoCo has so many more retirees and the only new big development being built near Montgomery Mall is a housing complex for retirees is part of its problem. It’s a county in decline, heralded by an organization that represents a population that’s literally in decline.

No economist would ever would say that a formula for economic dynamism for a county was attracting more old folks and poor migrants than neighboring counties while being the most unwelcoming county for businesses in the area as well. [/quote]
