Interview with ND athletic director Pete Bevacqua. Class act.
Lol what is classy about a whiny baby? He's literally just complaining. "We're upset about the process"? No, hon. If the exact same process had resulted in ND getting into the CFP over either Miami or Alabama, ND would think the process was fine. Like just imagine if ND had gotten a a spot in the CFP over Miami, a team with an identical record who also didn't play a championship game and who had won the head to head against ND? Would Bevacqua be going on Dan Patrick to opine sadly about "the process"? No he would not. He would be patiently explain that while he understand Miami was sad to miss out on a slot, and while certainly they are a good team, the process was fair. And same thing if ND had gotten a spot over Alabama, and people cried foul because because the only reason Alabama's record is worse is because they play in a conference nd made it to their conference championship game, where they had to play a Georgia team that is stronger than any team ND played all season, and which Alabama had beaten once before this season? Again, if that had happened, Belacqua would still be sitting there arguing "the process" that put ND in the CFP was perfectly fair, and tough decisions have to be made, and it's too bad because Alabama is a great team but that's just how it goes. ND is only complaining about the process because they didn't make the cut. That's it. And it is a fuzzy process and the CFP has always been problematic because there are inherent problems with trying to create a playoff for a sport where most teams don't play each other at all and there are a bunch of conference of varying strengths. ND didn't complain about the process with the CFP was expanded essential to make it possible for ND to make the bracket as an unaffiliated team. I don't recall anyone at ND complaining that decision was unfair or unclear. But suddenly when ND is on the outside looking in, the process is an issue. Hmm. Babies. Little, whiny babies. Go cry it out in chapel, I guess.
