Not reading a book this quarter. LISTENING to not all of a book in class time, then using Sparknotes to finish up. What is the teacher being paid for? To play media to the clas?
Wait your 9th grader isn't reading, just listening to an audiobook? What school?
I got the book from the library so my kid could read it.
As a special ed teacher in support of 9th grade english classes, i bought copies of the book we were reading so the kids could have a copy to take home and notate in.
Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for caring so much for your students to do this, but also yikes, you really shouldn't have to.
Many of their IEPs indicate use of highlighters and I was like, “how can I provide this needed accommodation with a school issued book?” I am still new at this Special Ed gig so I am very much worried about compliance.
Did you ask? Did the school offer digital versions that would allow for highlighting? Was it specific to physical highlights?
