I am a first generation American, a wife of a retired Navy Officer, a mother of an Air Force Officer and a ROTC Army cadet who will commission in two years and I didn’t go to the parade out of fear. Fear of radical leftists who hate America and anyone who outwardly loves America. I have experienced first hand attacks from leftists while walking to and from a peaceful rally. Only to have the media portray the events completely differently than what I witnessed. We have a media that covers up for their side consistently and blatantly. Most of us who feel the way that I do would have loved to go to the Army parade this weekend but we are aware that we put ourselves and families at risk when doing so. I love America despite the hate from nearly half of the country and I am glad my parents (legally) came here to give me and my siblings a better life. I am so proud that my kids have chosen to serve and protect the rights of American citizens. I wish I would have felt safe enough to go to the parade, I am so damn tired of the hatred from the left.
Daughter and granddaughter of veterans. Mom, Dad, and both Grandfathers. I love flag day in particular. On a fine summer day, if I see the American flag while I'm driving around, pretty often I'll start signing You're a Grand Old Flag. Chorus at the end of this comment for those who don't know. But, Key phrases: forever in peace may you wave., The home of the free and the brave., Where there's never a boast or brag., My dad was drafted. My mom was an army nurse. While my dad was in Viet Nam, my mom left her ID home and went to protests. Over time, they have reframed their service to the country and are planning to have the full honors they are entitled to at their funeral. Our whole family would have loved to go to a military parade. Instead, we protested on behalf of the promise of this country and what the military is intended to protect. It felt good, and the flag was there too. You're a grand old flag, You're a high-flying flag, And forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of the land I love, The home of the free and the brave. Ev'ry heart beats true 'Neath the Red, White and Blue, Where there's never a boast or brag. But should auld acquaintance be forgot Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
