Democrats supported border reform bills that would address the many structural issues that exist. The GOP has tanked the bills every time they were offered, mostly to keep people like you angry. Sadly, their ploy worked.

This. Abortion used to be the issue republicans wanted to keep on the table. They had opportunities over the 50-year run to overturn Roe v Wade, but they didn’t want to lose their single-issue voters. But as public opinion on abortion started to shift, they knew they just needed to get it done and move on to their next boogie man issue.

The fact is we can have civil liberties, food safety, and all the nice things in the world WITHOUT mentally ill male interlopers being ushered into women's spaces. Oh. lol.  Harris WAS the cause of all this.  She was a bad pick through-and-through.  Poor resume, pushed divisive rhetoric.  She even decided it was a great idea to hold her "victory" speech at Howard U.  She didn't split significantly from Biden on the border and police issues, even though she was supposedly a former prosecutor???   If she really wanted to unify the country, she would've picked a mainstream white republican to run with.  The election was hers to lose, and she made bad choices and did lose.[/quote]

I wouldn't say Harris was the cause.  Biden, picked her, but he was already in the third demension.  But yeah her CV was pretty weak.  Then she was handed the nomination with such a short fuse.  Though, so was Trump's in 2016.  However, Kamala had been in politics and Trump had not.  Otherwise, I agree she didn't execute very well, divisive rhetoric and all.  I just think her function was more of the fall girl the Democrats could blame their loss on  rather than to accept responsibility for their platform collapsing or try to change their course.[/quote]
