Neither Jackie nor her kids left the country.  Jackie spent most of her time in New York with a $30,000 a month allowance provided by Onassis. The kids attended private day schools in Manhattan and then prep schools in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.  Jackie occasionally travelled with Onassis, especially if he was in Paris, or he would occasionally be with her in New York.  Jackie made no secret that she loved the lifestyle Onassis gave her, and it was a problem between her and Onassis's children.   They were particularly upset that Ted Kennedy wrenched a $30 million inheritance for Jackie after being married to Onassis for 6.5 years.   To add to it, when Onassis was clearly dying, Jackie remained in New York.
