Obviously there were points in my life when I would not have welcomed a pregnancy, but so many women seem to be in a constant state of terror over it, and I’ve simply never understood it. There are so many ways to avoid pregnancy (I remember being 23, horny but a student with big plans, and I was on birth control, used a condom, made him pull out, AND made sure it wasn’t during my ovulation window; iuds weren’t even a thing back then), and yes, of course shit sometimes happens and it’s necessary or a good idea to abort, and I think it should be accessible and safe to do so, but there’s no reason to fret over it 24/7. I feel like I missed some fundamental part of being a woman in that I didn’t spend thirty years obsessing over possibly getting pregnant. [/quote]

I’m sorry for your loss. I too know someone who died in childbirth. However I don’t think the large number of women in a constant state of panic over potentially getting pregnant are thinking about the possibility of dying. [/quote]
