It was strictly because an Israeli state meant more Islamic pilgrimages to Mecca instead of Jerusalem (the second holiest city in Islam), and because Israel and Saudi Arabia wanted to man the Red Sea and the oil together with the Brits.

So, the Palestinian issue has become a way to discredit Saudi Arabia by the other wannabe powers in the region like Turkey and Iran. Erdogan and Iran help Palestine as an F U to Saudi Arabia. Being the savior of the Palestinians has become a ploy by those in the Middle East that aren’t Arabs (like the Turks and the Iranians). Qatar was so close to kicking and blackballing Hamas out in 2019 for meeting in Iran and saying Arabs don’t care about Palestine, but Bibi told Qatar to continue funding Hamas because he thought it would diminish Iran’s power and leverage in the ME and increase his election prospects in Israel.[/quote]
