If Democrats stayed with their position on immigration from the 90s, I doubt Trump would have the foothold he has. He won on the issue in 2016 and will win on it again in 2024. That's why Biden is scrambling to do something on the issue now.[/quote]

If the Republicans stayed with their position on immigration from the 80s (pro-legalization) immigration would be another legislative issue that would have been solved by now.  Instead they've decided not to govern.[/quote]
