I don’t think lack of representation in film is racist. I think it’s realistic. Outside of office friends/coworkers hanging out, I rarely see diverse groups out and about together, even in very diverse urban areas.
OMG! How asinine! What do you consider a diverse group? So if you don’t see anyone but white people that means they don’t exist and should not be well represented on film? Just wow!
OMG! I see lots of Black people, especially in DC. They’re just not hanging out with gay Asian guys or skinny little White girls singing kumbaya. They’re hanging out with other Black people who go to their church. Of course, they exist. Make all the movies you want about them. Tyler Perry certainly does. But let’s not pretend that they hang out in diverse groups of their choosing. If you’re making a film about White people in a small hick town, it’s ridiculous to pretend that a bunch of Blacks live there, and party with their Hispanic transgender neighbor, too. It takes me out of the movie and into a studio executive’s office.
