Cutting it pretty fine.
Good grief
I read on Reuters that they are planning to introduce the CR tomorrow. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-house-republicans-aim-release-shutdown-averting-measure-saturday-2023-11-10/
It doesn’t seem like a good sign when the “knowledgeable source” says they still can’t agree on the form or the substance of such a measure.
At least they're willing to work on a Saturday? I assumed they'd be flying home per usual so that is slightly encouraging. The bar is so low!
this didn't make sense. the house adjourned thursday before noon until Monday the 13th. they aren't working. https://live.house.gov/
I read another article and it said they plan to put it on the floor Tuesday so it will be published today due to the 72 hour rule.
PP here again and they are doing a two step CR, no cuts.
Link please? I read Republicans are being briefed today but haven't seen any details. Thanks!
Sure: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/house-republicans-unveil-plan-avert-government-shutdown-week-rcna124629 While I agree it's kinda gimmicky I don't see why folks are so against it. If it was a clean CR until January people wouldn't care so this is a clean CR for some of govt until Jan and for the rest until Feb. Realistically everyone has to deal with this sh*t again in January.
It is setting up two shutdown fights in a row. We're on our second in a row right now and it's exhausting. And stupid. Johnson is setting up the new year to be exhausting and stupid - for no reason. Why? Because he wants to be different? What's the upside here? For him or anyone?
Yeah - I don't understand the reasoning for the two dates. He said something about it giving them leverage but how?
I honestly don't even care as long as they manage to pass something. Don't you think if they managed to pass clean versions of these the Senate and White House would go along with it rather than have a shutdown?
most likely -- i was just curious about their strategy (or lack thereof).
The strategy seems to be aggressively destroying the function of the government.
